I am very excited to start another school year teaching the Gifted and Talented program. Once a week, the children will have many opportunities to creatively explore concepts through multimodal learning opportunities. Our G&T program extends the regular curriculum and interest based events. While the topics we will cover this year vary, many will focus on science and history.
We are going to begin this year with architecture. This subject cultivates visual literacy and uses math, science, history, and visual arts concepts. It supports the technology and engineering strand in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Architecture can also highlight many valuable skills such as observation, listening, communication and co-operation. Through the design process, we will also use negotiation and decision-making, as well as creative problem solving.
There are many ways to find out what is happening in G&T at Meadow Brook. Information will be posted on Bloomz, the G&T Google Classroom as well as on this website.
Newsletters will provide a summary of what the children are learning as well as resources (books, websites, and places to visit) that can extend the learning at home.
School/Home optional extension activities will connect with what the children will be learning in class. Some of these activities will be oriented so that your whole family may participate.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year! If you have any questions or concerns, email me at any time at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Faith Wint, Ed. D
